8 FIRST DATE DO’S

AS THE AGE-OLD SAYING GOES, YOU NEVER GET A SECOND CHANCE TO MAKE A GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION.

1. PICK A PLACE WITH A VIBE

Ideally, you have been there before and know the menu— amazing food items to sample and drinks & mocktails to recommend. The setting of your first date is key to helping you relax and feel confident.

2. ARRIVE 5 MINUTES EARLY

This is for the guys. Arrive early and grab a spot at the bar instead of a table. No one wants an interview date. Being early gives the image that you are interested in making a great impression.

3. WEARING SOMETHING FLATTERING

Dress for your body type and choose an outfit ahead of time. Wear something you love and that you know looks good on you, rather than trying to put together an outfit you’ve never worn. If you feel good in it, it will show and come across as being confident.

4. MAKE SURE YOU’RE IN A GREAT MOOD

Got a headache or feeling tired? You only have one chance to make an impressive first impression. Best to reschedule the date.

5. SHARE THE FLOOR WITH YOUR DATE

Treat the date conversation like a game of ping pong— it is really important to share the floor with your date. Listen to what the other person is saying, and ask questions that show you have been paying attention. This helps form a connection between you.

6. TELL THEM IF YOU WANT TO SEE THEM AGAIN

Be honest if you had a good time and would like to do it again! Gone are the days where you could play coy. Without directly communicating your interest, you risk missing out on another date.

7. ASK THEM TO TEXT YOU THAT THEY MADE IT HOME SAFELY

A great tip that shows you care about their safety. In a fast, casual, abbreviated world– charm, grace, etiquette and consideration count more than ever.

8. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THEM

Keep our eyes on the prize! Pay attention to your date instead of checking out others or looking at your phone. It is respectful to turn your phone off and put it away.
